It’s Graduation Season: Meet Three of Penn’s Newest Graduates!

We are so proud of our graduates!


🎓 Colby Snyder

  • Degree: Bachelor of Science (BS)
  • Major: Chemical Engineering & Physics
  • Program: Vagelos Integrated Program in Energy Research (VIPER)

Tackling one rigorous STEM major is a feat; conquering a dual-degree in Chemical Engineering and Physics through Penn’s prestigious VIPER program is next-level. Colby has spent his undergraduate career at the intersection of energy technology and foundational science, spending 3 years researching in the Composto Group under Dr. Pathreeker, and later independently as one of the founding members of the CoolSeal project.

He graduates this summer, and will be working on lithium ion cell development at Tesla. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in his research future!


🎓 Sydni Wilson

  • Degree: Master of Science (MS)
  • Major: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
  • Major: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)

Our PhD candidate, Sydni is officially checking a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering off her achievement list this summer! But she isn’t packing her bags.

Sydni will continue her exciting work in collaboration with Penn Dental Medicine and the Penn Medical School in her MSE PhD program. We can’t wait to see the breakthroughs her doctoral journey will bring!


🎓 Katie Sun

  • Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
  • Major: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
  • Graduation: August 2026

The academic milestone of PhD is officially in sight! Katie is putting the finishing touches on her doctoral defense, scheduled for July 1st. The anticipated graduation date for her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering is this August 2026. After years of pushing the boundaries of materials research, she is excited to culminate her work into her dissertation.
