As the new year rolls around, the Composto group would like to celebrate highlights of our group’s fall 2023:


PhD Candidate Weiwei Kong Completes a Summer Internship at META

We are happy to highlight the completion of a summer internship at META by PhD candidate Weiwei Kong. Weiwei is researching polymer kinetics within confined spaces and the properties of novel polymer nanocomposites. Her successful internship at META highlights the ability for our group members to work interdisciplinarity. Weiwei Kong, Isa Pan, and Colby Snyder Represent the Composto Group at the 2023 Frontiers of Energy Research Poster Session

We are happy to highlight the attendance of group members at the Frontiers of Energy Research Poster Session on October 23rd, 2023. This poster session is the 3rd annual iteration co-hosted by the Vagelos Institute for Energy Science and Technology and the Vagelos Integrated Program in Energy Reearch (VIPER). Its goal is to make the University of Pennsylvania a world leader in energy research by promoting integrative basic research aimed at meeting the world’s present and future energy needs.

Weiwei Kong is a MSE PhD candidate studying polymer kinetics under confinement inside metal complex. Isa Pan is an undergraduate in the VIPER program majoring in MSE and Chemistry working with Weiwei. Colby is an undergraduate in the VIPER program majoring in Chemical Engineering and Physics working with Dr. Shreyas Pathreeker. We are so proud of them! VIPER Student Colby Snyder participates in the 2023 AlChE Conference Undergraduate Student Poster Competition

Colby Snyder presented his poster titled “Hexagonal Boron Nitride Modulates Crystallinity and Charge Mobility in PEO-NaNO3 Electrolytes” at the 2023 AlChE Conference in Orlando, Florida. This poster encompassed his summer research under the direction of Dr. Shreyas Pathreeker and we are so proud of him! Katie Sun Presents at the 2023 Graduate Student Symposium (GSS) Poster Session

MSE PhD student Katie Sun presented her poster titled “pH-Dependence of Gold Nanopartifcle (AuNP) Adsorption to Weak Polyelectrolyte Brushes”.

We are happy to highlight our attendance at the 2023 Graduate Student Symposium (GSS) on November 3rd, 2023. Katie Sun presented her poster titled “pH-Dependence of Gold Nanoparticle (AuNP) Adsorption to Weak Polyelectrolyte Brushes”. Katie Sun is a MSE PhD student studying nanoparticle interactions and nanoscale transport in polyelectrolyte brushes.

GSS is a student-organized event that provides an opportunity to the graduate students from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (and associated programs) at the University of Pennsylvania to present their findings to the academic community and interested representatives from industry, national labs, and academia. More can be found on GSS here: https://cbegss.seas.upenn.edu/ We are so proud!
